The Worship and Music Committee is pleased to announce that John Kramer has accepted the combined position of organist/music director, effective immediately. While it has been many, many years since this church has had combined leadership in these roles, the Committee felt that John's unique gifts make him well-poised to lead us into our Jubilee year.

In addition to providing service music each Sunday, John will assume responsibility for the selection and direction of anthems, and will play a more vital role as planning partner to Rev. Susan and the rest of her leadership team as the church year unfolds. 

John has also accepted a commission to compose music for the 50th Anniversary service next May; this comes as a result of his wonderfully creative contribution to Rev. Susan's Lenten series "I AM" this spring, and his other compositions for vocal ensemble in his three-year tenure with us.

I am very much looking forward to another year of music making at LUMC. I would like very much to thank the church for the confidence they have placed in me as I step into the role of Music Director. This year will be a very exciting year for the entire church and especially for the music program.

The choir will kick off the year with its first rehearsal on September 6th at 7:30 pm. We welcome all interested persons to come and join us. Anyone with questions should feel free to contact me at home or to leave a note in my mailbox at the church.

Throughout this year, I would like to invite all persons in the congregation to participate in music making. If you play an instrument and welcome this opportunity, please introduce yourself to me. Remember, music is always better when you make it together.
