Hello to the youth of Lexington United Methodist Church!

My name is Erin Beary and I will have the pleasure of leading your weekly Sunday School classes and your 2002 spring mission trip.  We have some very exciting things to look forward to this year!  Here is a little information about myself and our upcoming plans.

First of all, I’ll introduce myself to you…  I am 28 years old and just moved to Boston one year ago to begin my Master of Divinity Degree at Boston University’s School of Theology.  I am originally from Washington State and I spent a year and a half as a ski bum and ski instructor in the Rocky Mountains in Aspen, Colorado.  In addition to my Masters Degree, I am working toward a Certificate in International Mission and Ecumenism, which makes our prospective mission trip even more exciting for me!

In addition, we have an awesome project in progress for Youth Sunday School.  In response to one of the youth’s request, we will be implementing a curriculum called Disciple, which will guide us through studying the entire Bible in nine months!  Our level of dedication to independent Bible reading will determine how much we can learn—the more effort we each put into the Bible, the more we’ll get out of it!

Finally, our youth will be combining with the other youth in our cluster to organize the 2002 spring mission trip!  We will be meeting together once a month to discuss the meaning of mission and how we can be ongoing participants in Christ’s mission in the world.  The door is wide open on this one!  Together, we will discuss what we want to do and where we want to go… Central America?  Appalachia?  Or Downtown Boston?  I hope you are all as excited about the upcoming year as I am!  I’ll meet you in person at the kick-off youth brunch on September 16.  See you there!
