A Letter from the Director
Many exciting things are happening in our Christian Education Program this fall. The Godly Play classroom for pre-school through second grade is off to a great start with four to eight kids each week. Both teachers and students report the classes have been fun and engaging.

Similarly, the Whole People of God class for third through fifth graders is also off to a good start. Four to eight kids have attended each week. While the schedule of Sunday School during worship is new, the kids seem to be adjusting just fine.

The Youth kicked off their year with a brunch at the parsonage. The Middle School will be working with the Whole People of God curriculum emphasizing diversity and social justice, while the High School has committed to reading through much of the Bible while studying the Disciple Bible study curriculum.

Children and Youth are welcome to join Sunday School classes at anytime. If you haven’t come yet, now is the time. Your teachers and fellow students look forward to seeing you.

Our joint service with St. John’s is coming up on October 7. LUMC’s Children and Youth will join St. John’s classes and continue to get to know their Korean peers.

Since we will be meeting with St. John’s on the first Sunday of this month, there will not be an intergenerational service this month. Remember, though, that children pre-school through fifth grade should go right to their Sunday School class on Sunday mornings.

Thanks for a great start. Please join us for these enriching and diverse programs.

Grace and Peace,
Marylu Bunting

High School Youth are still welcome to join the Disciple Bible Study class that meets with BU School of Theology Student, Erin Beary from 11:00 to noon on Sunday Mornings. See your friends and make new friends as you read through the Bible and focus on becoming Disciples of Christ. Youth are asked to contribute $15 towards the cost of the Disciple Bible Study workbook.

Godly Play

Marylu Bunting, Becky Linton, and Kathy Parks, our three Godly Play teachers this year, will become fully certified by Godly Play when they attend a weekend training workshop in October. Participants are coming from Maine and Connecticut as well as Massachusetts for this officially accredited Godly Play teacher training session.

Nurturing your Christian family life…

Although our potluck Family Fun Night was postponed, we are still interested in hearing from you about how the church can help support you as you attempt to nurture your Christian family life. What classes would be helpful? What topics are most important to you? What kind of speakers would you be interested in hearing? When would be the best time to hold family oriented programs? In the coming weeks, please have a conversation with Rev. Susan, Marylu Bunting, or Becky Linton about how we might better support you and your family.

Thanks! To all those who helped make our Celebration Sunday Brunch a success, including especially, Mike Walker, Jennie Keegan, Kathy Parks, Mark Hawk, Brian Johnston, Laurie Fahey, Becky Linton, all of the members of the Christian Education Committee, the Youth, and Mohammed the Ice-Cream-Man.
