NQMA
Young Adults
Faith and Film Series
Continues on Tuesdays,
March 12 and 19,
from 7:00–9:30 pm
All not-quite-middle-aged young adults are invited to join in a Lenten
faith and film series. We've seen and discussed The Life of Brian,
Left
Behind: The Movie, and The Sweet Hereafter so far. We watch
the movie of the evening and then spend time discussing its message, possible
significance, and relevance to our spiritual lives.
Each meeting we'll choose the film for our next meeting. Our current
list of films, always growing, includes:
· Princess Mononoke
· One of the Star Wars Trilogy
· Field of Dreams
· Shawshank Redemption
· The Last Temptation of Christ
· Dogma
· Breaking the Waves
· Pulp Fiction
If you’ve never come before, this is a great time to
join the group. All are welcome!

Confirmation
2002
This year's Confirmation Class continues to meet on Sunday mornings with
the assistance of peer mentors from the Sr. High class. Basic Christian
doctrines have been discussed with the help of film and music. Each confirmand
is preparing a Creed that represents their beliefs. On March 3rd
the class will go to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts for a guided tour of
Jesus' life through great art. Carol Phelan will be our guide and we will
view the life of Jesus from birth to resurrection! Confirmands will participate
in Holy Thursday's service, walk the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday
and prepare for their Confirmation on Easter Sunday. Throughout these three
months of preparation, each confirmand has also been meeting with an adult
mentor with whom they have shared their faith journey and read the Gospel
of Luke |
Monday's
Bible and Bagels
Disciple Bible Study
Continues on Monday Mornings
Paul's letters continue to be the topic of the Monday morning Disciple
Bible Study class. Reading the letters to the Ephesians, to Timothy,
and to Titus will complete this sixteen week course. Each week a video
tape segment is presented which gives background and insights into the
material that is being studied. Discussion of the reading, good fellowship,
and prayer are included in each class. |
Sunday
Morning's 11th Hour
continues its Lenten study
on Traveling Mercies
Anne Lamott's Traveling Mercies evokes questions and answers about
one's faith journey. Led by Jay Morrison, Anne Foster, and Marylu Bunting,
this Lenten study fosters the sharing of one's own life and spiritual experiences.
A Study Guide, prepared by Jay Morrison, enables the reader to reflect
personally on Anne Lamott's narrative. Books are available or can be purchased
in any book store. Newcomers are welcome at any session |
Covenant
Group
On the 1st and 3rd Wednesday mornings of each month from 6:30 - 7:30 AM,
a group representing members of both LUMC and St. John's Korean UMC gathers
for prayer, bible readings, conversation, and Holy Communion. In
the Wesleyan tradition, we inquire about each other's spiritual journey
and where we are finding God in our lives. Join us and enjoy this
meaningful hour of devotion and Christian fellowship on March 6th and 20th. |
