NQMA
Young Adults
Faith and Film Series
Beginning Tuesday Feb. 12
from 7:00–9:30 pm
All not-quite-middle-aged young adults are invited to join in a Lenten
faith and film series. Our first film is ”Left Behind: The Movie,”
based on the popular fiction series of the same title. We’ll watch the
movie and then spend time discussing its message, possible significance,
and relevance to our spiritual lives.
Each meeting we’ll choose the film for our next meeting. Our current
list of films, always growing, includes:
· Princess Mononoke
· One of the Star Wars Trilogy
· Field of Dreams
· Shawshank Redemption
· The Last Temptation of Christ
· Dogma
· Breaking the Waves
· The Sweet Hereafter
· Pulp Fiction
If you’ve never come before, this is a great time to
join the group. All are welcome!

Covenant
Group
On the 1st and 3rd Wednesday mornings of each month from 6:30 - 7:30 AM,
a group representing members of both LUMC and St. John's Korean UMC gathers
for prayer, bible readings, conversation, and Holy Communion. In
the Wesleyan tradition, we inquire about each other's spiritual journey
and where we are finding God in our lives. Join us and enjoy this
meaningful hour of devotion and Christian fellowship on February 6th and
20th. |

Sunday’s
11th Hour
Many LUMC members have
been attending the study Clean Elections for Full Democracy and What
Can I Do About It, led by Ken Kreutziger during the 11th hour on Sunday
mornings. Using The Alliance for Democracy book Political Bribery
in the USA, the class has studied ways in which corporations have an
unfair advantage within our political system. Christians of conscience
have been called to political responsibility. Our awareness of the
need for “clean” elections is only one of many avenues toward change in
the political realm. This study will continue through February 3rd.
Beginning on February
10th, there will be a 6 week study on the book Travelling Mercies
by Anne Lamott. The focus of this study will be by contrast more
spiritual in the sense that class members will be offered the oppoortunity
to consider their own spiritual journey in a rather unique way. 10
of the books are being ordered to be available for the class, which will
continue through March 17th. |
