Study Opportunities
Disciple Bible Study (also known as Bible and Bagels)
Fifteen "disciples" have been gathering on Monday mornings for the third quarter of a two year Disciple Bible Study. The Apostle Paul has been the focus of study and the books of 1 & 2 Thessalonians, Philippians, and 1 & 2 Corinthians have been discussed.  The group will resume it's meetings in January to complete the final quarter of this valuable study.
Who is born?
An Advent study of
Jesus’ birth narratives
All are invited to join the NQMA Young Adults in an Advent bible study focused on the birth narratives of Jesus, Monday Dec. 3, Dec. 10. & Dec. 17 from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. Marylu Bunting will facilitate, as we look at the accounts of Jesus’ birth in Matthew, Luke, and John. We will ask what each account tells us about who Jesus is and who we might be as Jesus’ disciples. Make a commitment to your own spiritual growth, and come for the fun and fellowship of bible study. Please contact Marylu (hoopdrms@bu.edu) if you have questions.

Sunday’s 11th Hour
Handel's Messiah will be the focus of the adult class on December 2rd and 9th.  Donna Dempewolf will be the facilitator of this two week study.  Selected passages of The Messiah will be read and played.  Appreciation of the composition of music and understanding of the  history of the text will be shared.  Selected verses from chapters in Isaiah will also be studied.
Covenant Group
On the 1st and 3rd Wednesday mornings of each month from 6:30 - 7:30 AM, a group representing members of both LUMC and St. John's Korean UMC gathers for prayer, Bible readings, conversation, and Holy Communion.  In the Wesleyan tradition, we inquire about each other's spiritual journey and where we are finding God in our lives.  Join us and enjoy this meaningful hour of devotion and Christian fellowship on December 5th and 19th.
Disciple Bible Study class offers words of wisdom

Among our fall studies was Paul’s letter to the Philippians.  Although the book is only four chapters, it is full of sayings that can be paraphrased to fit today’s world, especially after September 11.

United with Christ we shall change the world (2:1-3)
Practice kindness and compassion (4:5)
Rejoice in being your brother’s keeper (2:4)
Always live life using Christ as our example (1:27)
A oneness with God will anchor us in all situations (4:7)
Do nothing out of selfish ambition (2:3)
Rejoice in the Lord and again I say rejoice (4:4)
And peace with God, which transcends all understanding, will keep you steadfast (4:7)
Forget past mistakes and take that one step forward toward the prize (3:14)
Let your life shine forth the light of Christ as bright as the sun and moon and stars (2:15)
Let Christ empower you to live as a saint of God (4:13)
