December 30: First Sunday after Christmas
9:20  Worship -- Jesus presented in the Temple will be the theme of this First Sunday after Christmas.  The Gospel lesson will be read from Luke 2:22-38.  Christmas carols and New Year hymns will be enjoyed, and we will prepare to receive the New Year as a gift from God.

The Children’s Choir is always busy during Advent, and this year will be no exception. On Sunday December 2, the choir will sing “O Come, O Come, Immanuel” by Natalie Sleeth. The group will also share several anthems during the Christmas pageant on Sunday morning, December 16. Rehearsals take place each Sunday morning, 10:30-11 in room 21.  All children are invite to join in the fun and songs during Sunday rehearsals.

This year’s pageant is entitled “Journey to Bethlehem” and is based upon texts from Jerome Berryman’s Godly Play lessons. Becky Linton will be contacting all children and youth about their participation, so that each will be involved in some aspect of the production.

Members of the Children’s Choir will be taking a field trip on Thursday, December 13, to see a festival of lessons and carols presented by the Children’s Choir at Emmanuel Church on Newbury Street in Boston.  The program is free, begins at 6:00 pm, and lasts a little over an hour.

The group will meet at the church parking lot at 3:45 and go to the Alewife T stop.  We will take the T downtown, get a bite to eat before the program, and will probably be home by 8:30.  See Becky Linton if you’d like to come along with the group.

* Each month, during this year celebrating Lexington UMC’s 50th Anniversary, a Sunday will be dedicated to a Peace with Justice issue that has been significant in the life of our church community.
